Well Hello There!

I have been waiting and waiting to make this post but life has been hectic and I don't see it slowing down any time soon. I may complain a little but ultimately I'm thankful for the work God is doing in my life and the doors he is opening. So lets head on to the DIY Avocado Hair Mask shall we?
A little background info for you, I have had natural hair for several years now and honestly it is so hard for me. Reality is I have a serious problem with heat and constantly straightening my hair. In efforts to help nourish my curls I have really been into hair masks lately in my hair washing routine. The Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Treatment Masque is my favorite store bought mask to use however, I heard that if you keep using the same products on your hair eventually your hair builds a resistance to the product. This led me to changing up the products I use when washing my hair. So I looked all over Pinterest and Youtube for hair remedies and eventually, I came across this video by Melissa Denise. At first my reaction to the hair mask was just like "oh thats cool." Then when Melissa mentioned it was the hair recipe of Alyssa Redenti I definitely had to to try it.

But why are food hair masks good for your hair?

*Disclaimer: I am new to having natural hair. I do not know everything. The information listed below is just from research I have done to provide you with a little more understanding. If you question the information below, the links where the information is from will be listed.*

These are the ingredients in the Avocado Hair Mask and few of their benefits for your lovely locks.

Okay so you want to mix everything together (obviously) and I would recommend using a mixer to give it a nice consistency.

After mixing your ingredients together, apply it to your hair.  Now you can do this on dry hair or wash your hair before and apply the mixture.  I personally washed my hair once with shampoo, separated my hair into sections and began applying the mixture. I made sure to coat each section well by starting from the root of my hair working to the ends.

After you have applied the mask, cover your hair, and leave it covered for up to 2 hours.

I washed my hair two to three times after letting the mask set on my hair. Tip, do not use extremely hot water to wash this out of your hair. Eggs begin to cook in the hot temperate which will make the mask harder to wash out.

Review

Okay so what do I think about this hair mask?

I personally did not see any immediate changes in my hair except for it being easier to detangle like Melissa stated in her video. I expected for my hair to feel softer but I think using the mayonnaise gave my hair a harder feeling. Overall I was not super impressed with this mask BUT one mask will not correct years of damage. I think that if I were to add this to my routine every once in awhile for some extra help to my hair I will start to see results along with less heat and a healthy diet.

I hope that this helps anyone looking for a new food hair mask! If you use it leave what you think about it below in the comments and feel free to recommend some other hair masks!
